Daniel Rodriguez

Born in La Junta, Colorado, Daniel Rodriguez began his music training at the age of seven. He spent his formative years in Compton, California and Southeast Los Angeles.

In 1973, he heard a piano recording that would forever influence his life. The pianist on that recording was Dave Pohlson, who was the Crusade Pianist for Evangelist, Kenneth Copeland. The following year, the two met and became friends. Dave Pohlson soon became Daniel’s piano instructor and mentor.

Much of Daniel’s training in the 1970’s lasted late into the evenings. It was during those years that he served as the church pianist at a Spanish Foursquare church in Compton, CA. During his school years, Daniel was always active in school music curricula. It was also during those years, he was blessed to have Linnie Olson (former Organist for Angelus Temple) as his piano teacher.

In 1977, Daniel was invited to play piano for a concert at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA. and with the Kathryn Kuhlman choir during that same year at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

While attending LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles, Daniel was blessed to be taught by Jim Barnett who was the former Director of Music for singer, Johnny Matthis. Daniel also studied orchestral composition in Los Angeles and San Diego.

From 1983 - 1985, Daniel served as one of the principle pianists at Angelus Temple & Auditorium in Los Angeles during the afternoon and evening services.

After relocating to Roseburg, Oregon, Daniel studied Chopin, (and other composers) under Ms. Linda Granholm who was a 6th generation student of French Composer, Claude DeBussy.

From 1987 -1993, he served as the Director of Music for a Foursquare Church in the San Diego area writing and arranging music for the church orchestra which included members of the San Diego Symphony.

In 1997, Daniel was invited to play a short, private concert on Vladimir Horowitz personal piano in San Diego. The piece featured was Chopin’s “Heroic” Polonaise.

Throughout the years, Daniel has performed in countless venues across the U.S. west coast to include live radio appearances in Los Angeles, CA. and Portland, OR.

In 2001, Daniel was invited to audition for entertainer/singer Robert Goulet and Mr. Vincent Falcone, former Director of Music for entertainer/singer, Frank Sinatra. Daniel was given strong compliments for his artistic ability and was invited to continue to play in venues in Las Vegas, Nevada; however, due to personal convictions, the invitation was later declined.

As a hobby since 1979, Daniel’s passion is studying languages. He speaks, reads and writes in Spanish, German and Japanese. He is presently learning Hebrew.

Today, Daniel continues to arrange, compose and record his music out of his home studio.
